I am your course facilitator and have the privilege of working among mums, dads, babies and new families on a daily basis as a midwife. I have a genuine passion for women’s issues and rights and am fascinated by the changes women undergo throughout history.

My 25 years in Midwifery has afforded me the experience of working in hi-tech teaching units as well as low risk maternity units, leading a ward team, teaching natural family planning and for the last 8 years, being a community midwife and gaining experience in homebirth settings.
Prior to that I trained in nursing, specializing in Orthopaedics and Urology.
My interest in women’s health has amassed over the years, aided by having my own 2 children, working with vulnerable families within and outside the NHS – recent work within a women’s refuge for black, minority and ethnic families highlighted the issues of repression and honour crimes, and studying at University for my DipHe, which found me innovating an initiative for women’s continence issues and being funded within a holistic midwifery group to train as a HypnoBirthing® practitioner.

I feel strongly about getting the foundations right, so that to become good parents, we should all be concentrating on getting the birth right to start with; that’s not saying that you should or would want to have a “natural birth” but that you deserve the right to choice, information, care and support so that you can welcome your new baby with love in your heart, whatever way he or she is born. It is not within everyone’s grasp to experience problem-free birth, but I hear from women every day that it’s not always the outcome that challenges them, but the journey along the way. My role as a midwife is to ensure that that journey is as smooth and safe as possible, building strong foundations all the way – I can now offer that to you in the shape of my classes.

I have a good, working knowledge of birth preparation classes and the ever-changing needs of you new parents within an ever-changing society. So I was delighted at the chance to become a HypnoBirthing® practitioner and train with the Mongan method; I am currently certified with the HypnoBirthing® institute to provide you with the official 5 week (12.5 hours) preparation course – the details of which you will find in the relevant pages of my website.
I love the ethos that Mongan HypnoBirthing® supports – the mind/body connection to make things better or worse, individual ownership and responsibility and allowing natural processes the time to flourish – hence the name I have given to my business:-
“TIME 4 BIRTH” ………..Too much of life today seems to be in a rush, missing the beauty of it and not affording ourselves the time for the things that matter most ……TIME to concentrate on our births of the next generation …..laying down foundations…….

Registrations & Affiliations.

As a certified practitioner, i fulfil annual re-registration with the Institute by measurable continuing development and i practise within a Code of Ethics drawn up by Marie Mongan, to ensure your safety at all times; I appear on the international directory of practitioners on the official HypnoBirthing® listings at www.hypnobirthing.co.uk/com and you are encouraged to always check out your practitioner. Non-appearance on the listing means non-compliance with an agreed set of standards. HypnoBirthing® is meant to be provided to you in 12.5 hours of tuition, usually split over 4 or 5 weeks to allow for your practice to process the information and reinforce positive goals – otherwise less than good results could ensue ; the exception being couples wishing to start close to their due date.
I carry my own private therapy insurance, covering midwifery advice and preparation but not hands-on midwifery care; I strongly encourage you to work WITH your healthcare providers and support you in finding those who could help you most. Your named care leader is still responsible for providing all your clinical care and antenatal checks.
I am registered with the Nursing and Midwifery council (N.M.C) and practise within their Code (of conduct, performance and ethics) and am a longstanding member of the Royal College of Midwives (R.C.M.)
All copies of these official documentations are available for your perusal on taking up a course with me.
